Privacy Policy

Bary-Tech we operates the DukaMax POS mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you use the DukaMax app, you may enter the following types of business information:
- Shop Information: Business name, address, phone number, and email address configured in Settings.
- Product Data: Product names, descriptions, prices, stock levels, categories, barcodes, expiry dates, and images.
- Customer Data: Customer names, phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses.
- Transaction Data: Sale records, payment methods, receipt references, cashier information, and debt records.
- Financial Data: Expenses, restock costs, supplier information, and revenue data.
- User Accounts: Name, email, password (stored locally), and role (Admin or Cashier).
1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
DukaMax is designed with a local-first (offline) architecture. All data you enter is stored on your device's local database. We (Bary-Tech) do not collect, transmit, receive, or have access to any of your business data.
- We do not collect personal identification information remotely.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not serve advertisements.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, or contacts without explicit action (e.g., barcode scanning requires camera permission only when you initiate a scan).
2. Data Storage & Security
2.1 Local Storage
All application data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. This means:
- Your data remains on your device at all times during normal use.
- No internet connection is required for core functionality (sales, inventory, reports).
- If the app is uninstalled or the device is lost, data may be lost unless you have performed a backup.
2.2 Optional Cloud Backup (DukaMax Cloud)
DukaMax offers an optional cloud backup feature that, when activated by you, allows you to:
- Sync business data (sales, products, customers) to your shop's DukaMax account.
- Upload a complete database backup file to DukaMax Cloud, our own backup storage service.
Important: When you use the Cloud Backup feature, your data is transmitted directly to your shop's private storage on DukaMax Cloud, accessible only with your shop's credentials. We do not sell, share, or analyze the contents of your backups. You can disable Cloud Backup at any time from within the app.
2.3 SMS Notifications
DukaMax uses this feature to send SMS messages for the following purposes, only when you explicitly trigger them:
- Receipt SMS: Sending sale confirmation messages to customers after a purchase (only when you explicitly enable this feature during checkout).
- Report SMS: Sending daily sales reports to a designated phone number (e.g., business owner's phone).
- Debt Reminder SMS: Sending payment reminders to customers with outstanding balances (only when you initiate it).
SMS messages are delivered through our SMS provider, Beem Africa, using the phone number and message content you provide at the time of sending. We do not intercept, store, or read incoming messages, and messages are only sent when you take an explicit action in the app.
3. Data Ownership & Your Rights
You have full ownership and control over all data within the DukaMax application:
- Access: You can view all your data at any time within the app.
- Modification: You can edit, update, or correct any information stored in the app.
- Deletion: You can delete individual records (products, customers, transactions) or clear all data by uninstalling the app.
- Export: You can export your data as PDF reports or sync it to DukaMax Cloud.
- Backup & Restore: You can create and restore backups at any time using the Cloud Backup feature.
4. Third-Party Services
DukaMax integrates with the following third-party service, only when you explicitly use the related feature:
- Beem Africa (SMS delivery): Used to deliver receipt, report, and debt reminder SMS messages you choose to send. Only the phone number and message content for that specific SMS are shared with Beem Africa.
DukaMax Cloud Backup and data sync are provided directly by our own servers โ not a third party. We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.
5. Children's Privacy
DukaMax is a business management application intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will assist with any concerns.
6. Data Breach & Loss
Disclaimer: Since all data is stored locally on your device, it is your sole responsibility to perform regular backups using the Cloud Backup feature. In the event of device failure, loss, theft, or data corruption without a proper backup, Bary-Tech shall not be held responsible for any data loss.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information.
8. Permissions Used
The following device permissions may be requested by DukaMax:
- Camera: For scanning product barcodes (only when you initiate a scan).
- Storage / Photos: For saving and loading product images.
- Internet: For optional Cloud Backup and sync, and for sending SMS receipts/reports through Beem Africa (not required for core functionality โ the app works fully offline for sales and inventory).
